The ride to the reef is about an hour and a half. About half way out we spotted some humpback whales (3 of them). Apparently we are at the start of the migration season. The boat stopped near them and for the next 30 minutes these 3 whales entertained us. They would go around the boat, under the boat, swim right toward the boat and so on. It was amazing. You can see in the one picture the small zodiac hanging on the back of the boat to give you a perspective of just how close they would come. They were close enough that you could hear them blow and the depending on which side of the boat they came up on, the mist from their blow holes would drift right into us (that sounds better than saying that they would come up and blow whale snot at us). It was the best whale watching that we have ever experienced. Had we not been headed for snorkeling the reef, we could have stayed and watched for a lot longer.
