The Hermitage was the Winter Palace. Among other things, the Tsars and their families bought up art all over Europe. It is difficult for the art to keep up with the splendor of the building. The last few pictures are from a Russian Cultural program that we went to at Nicholovsky Palace. There were two tired boys at the end of this day.

we also live in one of those Northern cities - the sun sets around 10, but it stays light until 11ish here. Of course the winter is a very different story.
